BCAS is a project that partners with Si a La Vida in their work with children and young people in Nicaragua.
Around 50 per cent of children and adolescents in Nicaragua are living in poverty, and 19 per cent, in extreme poverty. The prevalence of chronic malnutrition in school children 6 to 9 years is 27.2 per cent. Five hundred thousand children and adolescents between the ages of 3 and 17 are not in the educational system. Only 4 out of 10 children entering primary school finish in six years. 5,000 children are living on the street.
BCAS brings community development experience and educational expertise to help increase the financially sustainable options for Si a La Vida and build the capacity of the staff and young people of Si a La Vida to nurture stronger and more positive relationships. The collective aims are to address and support families, children and young people in the areas of education, mental health and wellbeing and cultural engagement.
